See better by eating your carrots and eating them often. While many of the old wives tales people hear are not true and can be rather misleading, the one about carrots just happens to be a true one. Carrots contain beta-carotene that converts to vitamin A in the body and is crucial for maintaining proper eyesight.
According to a professor of nutrition at Ohio State University, people who do not get enough vitamin A, to the point of being deficient, can eventually experience night blindness. If left untreated, this problem can progress to the point where an individual becomes blind, which is one of the reasons for blindness in third world countries. If you are not deficient in vitamin A, increasing the number of carrots in your diet will not improve eyesight.
Some people take multi-vitamins to make sure they are receiving all of the vitamins they need to keep their bodies healthy. Nutritionists see this as a valid help, but prefer that people get the vitamins they need through a balanced diet, including the prescribed amount of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. This allows the body to take in vitamins from natural sources as well as extra nutrients that are important to the body.

Since 1919, doctors have prescribed eye exercises to patients to correct many different eye problems. Some people have found they can see better by performing these exercises on a regular basis.
